About David

David is an experienced project management & operations professional with 20+ years in the construction & manufacturing industries and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB).

Having graduated from The University of Edinburgh with a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering, David was fortunate enough to be able to pursue a career in rugby when the game went professional in 1996. During his playing career David played for Caledonia Reds (part-time while undertaking a graduate traineeship in structural engineering), then full-time with Harlequins, Worcester & Edinburgh. He represented Scotland 'A' on 18 occasions as well as touring Australia & New Zealand in 1998 & 2000 respectively with the Scotland national team. David completed a post graduate diploma in Property & Construction Management (part-time) from Napier University while playing rugby.

After retiring from the professional game David took time away from the game to spend time with his family and build a family home before being enticed back to the unpaid ranks for two seasons with his last amateur club, Currie. Since finally hanging up his boots, David has been fortunate enough to go on and represent the Classic Lions, the British & Irish Legends and Crusaders Rugby, amongst others, across the world raising awareness and funding for worthy charities. David has continued to give back to the game that has been so good to him, taking on coaching roles at Boroughmuir Rugby and more recently with Musselburgh Rugby.

David joined Thomas & Adamson, an international construction and property consultancy in 2005, working his way up from project manager to Director of the project management department and assisting with project management services being provided in the UAE. David worked on a number of high-profile projects, including the refurbishment of the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh, Marischal Square in Aberdeen, and Oriam, Scotland’s national performance centre for sport at Heriot-Watt University. David left Thomas & Adamson in 2019 to take up a Head of Operations role within the manufacturing industry working alongside the major banking organisations such as Lloyds Banking Group, TSB, Santander & Nationwide. The arrival of Covid-19 in the UK early in 2020 saw a dramatic downturn for the business and David agreed to leave the business to explore new opportunities and set up Officer Consulting.
